What happens after the final result
Selection after Mains is provisional. As per the 2026 notification, final selection depends on:
- Verification of your eligibility and of everything you entered in the online application.
- Qualifying the local language test, where it applies.
Appointment is also subject to being declared medically fit as per the bank's requirements and completing KYE (Know Your Employee) formalities. SBI admits everyone to the exam without checking documents, and eligibility is examined only at joining, so this is where errors in the application surface.

The bio-data-cum-attestation form
SBI has published a bio-data-cum-attestation form with recent results. It must be filled in your own handwriting, with your uploaded photo pasted and signed across. It asks for, among other things:
- Personal details, nationality, category and the local language you studied in Class 10 or 12
- Educational qualifications with marks
- Present and previous employment
- Places where you lived for more than one year in the last five years
- Any prosecution, conviction or pending court case, including cases for non-payment of a bank loan
- Any disqualification by a recruitment body, and any disciplinary action by an employer
- Two respectable referees with addresses and phone numbers
You also sign a declaration that the particulars are true. The bank can cancel the appointment if anything is found false or suppressed.
Background checks
- Criminal cases: after selection and before joining, you must disclose any criminal case pending against you. The bank may verify police records independently and can deny appointment based on what it finds.
- Medical fitness: as per the bank's requirements.
- Aadhaar: the bank may verify Aadhaar online at different stages if you gave the details in the form.
- Character and antecedents: adverse reports make a candidate ineligible.
Joining, posting and probation
You are posted in the state you applied for. There is no inter-circle or inter-state transfer before 5 years of service.
Probation is a minimum of 6 months, during which you must complete the bank's prescribed e-lessons. Performance is evaluated before probation ends, and probation can be extended if the e-lessons are not complete or performance falls short.
What to do right after Mains
- Check that your category certificate is in the correct format and dated within the required window. Apply for a fresh one if not.
- Collect graduation documents. If your university posts results only online, get a certificate showing the date of posting.
- Make a folder with originals and two sets of self-attested photocopies of everything.
- If you are employed in government or a PSU, find out how long your employer takes to issue a discharge or relieving certificate.
- Watch SBI's careers page for the result, the LLPT schedule and joining instructions. No hard copies are sent by post.
