What is the age limit for SBI Clerk?

The basic age limit for SBI Clerk (Junior Associate - Customer Support & Sales) is 20 to 28 years. SBI fixes a cut-off date in each notification and your age is counted on that date, not on the day you apply or the day of the exam.

Age limit in recent notifications

The pattern is simple: SBI has used 1 April of the recruitment year as the cut-off date in the last three cycles. If the next notification follows the same pattern, the cut-off will be 1 April 2027. Do not assume this, though - always read the date printed in the notification you are applying under.

How to check your own eligibility

1. Find the cut-off date in the notification (for 2026 it was 1 April 2026).
2. You must have completed 20 years on that date. If you turn 20 even one day after the cut-off, you are not eligible for that cycle.
3. You must not have crossed 28 years on that date, unless you belong to a category that gets upper age relaxation.

Only the upper limit is relaxed for reserved categories. The minimum age of 20 applies to everyone. Relaxation is 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PwBD (General/EWS), with higher figures for PwBD candidates who are also OBC or SC/ST, ex-servicemen and some women candidates.
