Yes. In the 2026 notification, every listed state offered Hindi as a medium for all sections except English Language, which is only in English. You still need enough English to score in that section.
Yes, Hindi medium candidates clear SBI Clerk every year. According to the 2026 advertisement, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, GA and Quant are offered in English, Hindi and, for some states, a regional language. The English Language section (Prelims) and General English (Mains) are only in English.
What the 2026 notification says about medium
- All 24 listed states/UTs had English and Hindi.
- Some states also had a regional language, for example Marathi for Maharashtra, Tamil for Tamil Nadu, Gujarati for Gujarat, Bengali for West Bengal, Odia for Odisha and Kannada for Karnataka.
- The Prelims handout notes that questions appear in English and the chosen language, so you can check the English wording when a translated term is unclear.
How to prepare in Hindi
- Learn Quant and Reasoning in the language you think in. Speed matters more than language here.
- Learn key terms in both languages. Words like "compound interest", "repo rate" or "operating system" should be familiar in English as well, because GA and computer questions often use English terms.
- Treat English as a scoring section, not a lost one. Error detection, fillers and cloze tests follow rules you can learn. Aim for a steady score rather than full marks.
A 30-minute daily English routine
| Minutes | Task |
|---|---|
| 10 | One short editorial paragraph, underline new words |
| 10 | 10 error detection or filler questions |
| 10 | Revise 15 words and one grammar rule |
The local language rule is separate
Do not confuse the exam medium with the local language requirement. You must be proficient in the specified local language of the state you apply for, and if you did not study it in Class 10 or 12 you take a language test after Mains. For Hindi-speaking states such as Rajasthan or Madhya Pradesh, the 2026 vacancy table listed Hindi as the local language.
