Short answer

Signature rules

  • A signature in capital letters is not accepted.
  • The signature must be yours and nobody else's.
  • You will sign the attendance sheet and call letter at the exam. If that signature does not match the uploaded one, you can be disqualified. Use your normal, consistent signature.

Thumb impression rules

  • Use the left thumb. If you do not have a left thumb, you may use the right thumb.
  • Press firmly so the ridges are visible, and avoid smudging.
  • Do not apply mehendi, ink or chemicals on your hands before the exam. SBI may capture thumb impressions or iris scans at different stages for biometric verification, and a mismatch can lead to rejection.

Scanning tips

  • Set the scanner to at least 200 dpi and true colour.
  • Crop to the edge of the signature or thumb impression, then resize to the final size.
  • Upload each image in its correct slot. If the photo and signature are uploaded in the wrong places, you will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
  • Check the preview. If an image is unclear, re-upload it before final submission.
Confirm the current specifications in Annexure II of the latest official SBI notification.
